The Chuncheon International Mime Festival(CIMF) is a performing arts festival held every year during the last week of May in Chuncheon — a city of spring and water. Rooted in mime, the art of conveying the inner world through the movement of the body, it is a festival that connects city, art, and citizen.
Recognized alongside the Mimos Festival in France and the London International Mime Festival in the UK as one of the world's three great mime festivals, CIMF continues to grow in international stature. Through the fusion of wordless movement with diverse genres and elements, it gives form to the emotions and spirit shared by a city and its people — forging an entirely new genre: Chuncheon + Mime + Festival.
Grounded in the primal energies of water, fire, and spring, this is a festival of nanjang — where free participation and togetherness take center stage, and the desires of a city and its era are released through artistic gesture.
